This process is achieved by air passing through the decorative openings on the sides of the crib mattress frame then up and down through the “open weave” knitted spacer fabric channels of the crib mattress surface and away from the sleeping baby. In short, the infant lies on a breathable spacer fabric surface that is suspended over a bed of air. This revolutionary Passive Airflow Design decreases the possibility of a baby suffocating or being asphyxiated by accumulated toxic gases. The Passive Airflow Design helps to stabilize the baby’s core body temperature by eliminating the build up of body heat seen with traditional and organic crib mattresses. Studies indicate that a common factor in sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is an elevated body temperature.
By design, the Heaven Sent Breathable Crib Mattress surface for babies can be “quickly and easily” removed for laundering. Because of the porous nature of the crib mattress sleep surface, any dispelled or spilled liquids will pass through the crib mattress surface material and pool on the collection tray located 5 inches below the crib mattress’ surface. The collection tray can be easily disinfected with mild soap and water.
